A gust of wind knocked down a huge branch about 4:00AM EDT this morning, narrowly missing two houses (mine and the neighbor's) and the neighbor's classic car. The branch is currently resting on our shed, two (maybe even three) fences, and my dad's pepper plants in the side garden. It's also resting against the house--right outside my bedroom. I'm going to be heading to bed at about 9:30pm EDT (in about an hour and a half from now). Water main broken, flooding Granby Street; several neighborhoods in Norfolk (I think that's the right city), Virginia, now without power AND water.
And something just thudded against the wall outside...it's too dangerous right now to go and investigate it properly (because that would require leaving the safety of the house).
